Student Assistant Employment

Fall 2020

If you are interested in employment for Fall 2020, please submit your application and schedule of available hours as soon as you have your spring schedule of courses.

Please note that we try to fill most positions and have our student employees trained before classes begin.  It is best to submit your application as soon as possible after you know your course schedule for the semester.

About Student Employment in the Library

Student employment applications are accepted throughout the year.

Hiring begins approximately two weeks before the start of classes.

Most positions are filled by the first week of classes.

A minimum Fresno State class load of 6 undergraduate or 4 graduate units is required.

The average work schedule is 10-20 hours per week.

Students who are attending classes, including online classes, may not work more than 20 hours per week.

Evening and/or weekend work is often required.

Beginning January 1, 2020, most positions will have a starting pay rate of $13.00 per hour.

Common work assignments are at a public desk, shelving, and/or in an office.

Application Procedure

Please fill out the online application on this page and submit along with a resume if you have one.  If you prefer, you may print the application and fill it out manually.  Be aware that if you do not have the latest version of Adobe Reader (available at no charge), your application may appear blank when it is emailed to the Administrative Office.  You may also obtain an application in the Library Administrative Office, Room 3207.

Selection is based in part on your availability and the hours that need to be filled.
If you change your class schedule, complete another Application Form page 2 (schedule) as soon as possible.

Update your application each semester for future vacancies.

Reapply for employment after a break in service.

Selection Process

Library units with available positions select applicants to be interviewed from the applicant pool.

If you are selected to be interviewed, someone from the Library will call you.  Please make a note of the name of the  person who calls.  The Administrative Office will not have that information.

If you are not selected for a position at this time, the Library will not call you.
Your application will remain active for the remainder of the semester.
