Some of the IPUMS Projects have specific data security requirements. For example,
Data Security: Microdata extracts must always be safely secured. Users will implement security measures to prevent unauthorized access to microdata acquired from IPUMS International, its partners or authorized distributors. Upon the completion of this research, data extracts may be retained only if they can be safely secured. If security cannot be guaranteed, the microdata must be destroyed.
Be sure to keep data in a secure environment.
What does that mean? It depends on the data you downloaded. This data is not de-identified or anonymized just because it doesn't have direct identifiers. For example, if you download international data with health information, that can be considered GDPR "extra sensitive" data.
