LibGuides is an online publishing system designed for libraries to create subject guides, course pages and much more. The library liaison for your department is available to work with you to create guides for your courses. These pages can serve as an excellent resource for sharing library and internet resources with your students.
Guides can also be easily integrated with Blackboard so that students have direct access from within Blackboard. Please contact your department library liaison for more information.
The library values your insight and appreciates any recommendations for resources that you would like to see added to the collection.
Books and other library materials are acquired in several ways. The Library has established approval plans with companies that serve as middlemen between libraries and publishers. Recently published books that meet the Library’s subject profiles are sent weekly and purchase decisions are made. In addition, the Library receives many notification slips from approval plan vendors.
Library materials are also purchased on the basis of recommendations from faculty, students, and staff. Please complete the library's Online Suggest a Purchase form to make recommendations for purchase.
You may also contact your library liaison to discuss resources that you would like to see added to the collection.
A library liaison is a librarian who has been designated as the contact person between the library and a specific academic department. Essentially, the role of the liaison is to facilitate communication between the library and the university's academic programs. The library liaison is knowlegable about the library's collections, policies, and services and works to promote these to faculty and students.
The goals of the liaison program include increased communication and collaboration with faculty and departments, development and maintainance of the library collection for assigned areas, and general support of the curriculum to enhance the academic experience of university students.
