Ways to Find Synthesis Information via SciFinder-n

There are a variety of approaches to find synthesis information in SciFinder-n:
Reference (Topic), Substance, & Reaction searching.

1.  Under the References menu on the left of the SciFinder screen,
Search for your compound by clicking on Research Topic
In the search box, type synthesis AND <your compound name>.

2.  Under the Substances menu on the left of the SciFinder screen,
Search for your compound by  Registry Number, structure, molecular formula or chemical name, etc
Once you've found your compound:
--Click on the "Get References" link.
--Specify that you want references dealing with preparation.
--Use AND OR NOT to combine

3. Under the Substances menu on the left of the SciFinder screen
Search for your compound by  Registry Number, structure, molecular formula or chemical name, etc
Once you've found your compound:
    --Click on  "Get Reactions"
--Specify that you want references where your compound is a product of a reaction.

4.  Under the Reactions menu on the left of the SciFinder screen,
Select Reaction Structure
In the Drawing Editor, you can draw or import a structure, or enter a CAS Registry Number, or SMILES (Simplified Molecular Input Line Entry Specification) or InChI (IUPAC International Chemical Identifier) string
     • Draw your compound as a product, along with any starting materials, reactants

To import a structure into the Reaction Drawing Editor:
-Once you've found your substance, click on >> in the structure diagram for more options, and select Explore by Structure...Reactions.
-This opens Explore Reaction and imports the structure into the Reaction Editor.
