About This Guide
For this assignment, you will design a 50-60 minute Drama Integration Lesson Plan in one core area: English/Language Arts, History/Social Science, Math, or Science. You may choose from grades 1st through 8th. This guide will help you choose a topic of interest, locate common core standards, and find supplemental materials to support your activity.
California Department of Education Content Standards
The content standards adopted by the California State Board of Education are designed so educators can quickly find, search, and sort relevant standards across disciplines to aid in instructional planning and assessment.
What are the Common Core Standards?
In 2010, more than 40 states adopted the same standards for English and math. These standards are called the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).

Learning Resource Display Center
The TRC is part of the California Department of Education’s Learning Resource Display Center (LRDC) network for Fresno County. This collection is not searchable via OneSearch, instead the LRDC collection inventory is available here.
For this assignment, you will use a curriculum textbook or resource guide in the core content area and grade level of your choosing. The curriculum collection is located on the third floor of the Fresno State Library inside the Teacher Resource Center Reading Room. The materials are shelved in order alphabetically by publisher, as listed in the collection inventory.

Finding K-12 books in the Teacher Resource Center
Searching for TRC Materials using OneSearch
- From the Library homepage, select Advanced Search.
- Type in your search term(s) and select Books as your Material Type. Click Search.
- On the left side of the page, use the limiters to narrow the Location to Teacher Resource Center. Click Apply Filters.
Searching for TRC Materials using CLCD
- Start with the Children's Literature Comprehensive Database
- Make sure to change the default from 'Universe of Books' to 'CSU Fresno'
- Type in your search term(s) and use any of the below limiters to narrow your search results
- From the results page, click on any item you are interested in
- Click on 'Check the Library's Catalog' where you will be able to see the item's availability, call number, and location
Searching for Materials using TeachingBooks
- Start with the TeachingBooks Database
- Search by subject, diverse culture, grade level, etc.
- Once you have selected a book, go back to the Library homepage and search by title to see availability
