Welcome to the Arne Nixon Center for the Study of Children's Literature!
We are located on the third floor in the south wing of the library. Aa a department of the Henry Madden Library at California State University, Fresno, the Center is one of North America's leading resources for the study of children's and young adult literature. The growing collection of 50,000 books, periodicals, manuscripts, original art, and papers of authors and illustrators, has an international and multicultural emphasis. Its materials are available to anyone for use in the Center's reading area.
The Arne Nixon Center materials are available for research only. Its books do not check out, but there is a circulating collection of children's books in another Library department called the Teacher Resource Center. Some titles may be found in both collections. It is recommended that teachers and future teachers familiarize themselves with their local public library collections and children's librarians, too.
To use materials housed by the Arne Nixon Center, you can search for them on the library catalog. Write down the title and author name of the materials that you want, and contact us to schedule a time for you to come into the Center to use the materials. Some of our materials are not yet listed in the catalog. So, if you cannot find what you need, ask us first!
