Press Paws: Cultivating Student Wellness Through Library-Led Engagement and Reflection

Creators: Ginny Barnes & Shuyi Liu

Press Paws is a library-led wellness campaign that encourages students to “pause and play”—taking mindful breaks to support balance and mental health. Through playful design, warm imagery, and interactive prompts, it invites reflection on stress, rest, and self-compassion. The project highlights how libraries can use design and storytelling to foster creativity, empathy, and community well-being.

Play Across Borders: Bridging Cultures and Community through Games at the Library

Creators: Hiromi Kubo & Shuyi Liu

Play Across Borders highlights the Fresno State Library’s innovative use of games to build cultural connection and community. Presented through the American Library Association's (ALA) Games & Gaming Round Table's (GameRT) International Games Month, the project reimagined library programming by transforming an open space into an interactive game zone featuring traditional and modern games from the U.S., Japan, China, and beyond.
