Located on the third floor of the North Wing, the Music & Media Resources department offers a rich and diverse collection of materials and services that support creative, academic, and research pursuits of the entire campus community.
The center features the Ronald J. Harlan Music Collection, housing over 22,000 CDs, 40,000 LPs, and 47,000 music scores, with a focus on Western art music as well as jazz, popular music, musical theatre, and world music. Spoken recordings of poetry, plays, and speeches are also included.
In addition, the media collection includes more than 7,000 educational and research-focused video recordings in Blu-ray, DVD, and VHS formats.
To support digital creativity, the space offers:
Seven high-powered iMacs with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud) in the media lab
Two high powered iMacs for music composition and editing in the music lab
Two video studios and an XR (extended reality) studio to experiment with XR/VR skills
Listening and viewing stations, as well as Media Viewing Rooms for up to 20 people
Staff and student assistants are available to help with:
Video/audio editing
3D modeling and game development
Music recording and composition
Project-based tutoring using creative software
Resources like scores and videos are openly browsable, while CDs and LPs can be requested at the service desk. Scores and materials can be checked out for 30 days.
