Copyright is a form of protection provided by the laws of the United States (title 17, U.S. Code) to the authors of original works of authorship, including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works. This protection is available to both published and unpublished works. Basic information can be found at the library's research guide. If staff have questions about the use of copyright or fair use, they can reach out to librarians for assistance. The best method of outreach is to email or chat with our librarians through the Ask-A-Librarian service on our homepage.
The Library's GIS effort supports a wide range of technologies (e.g. geographic information systems, remote sensing, and global positioning systems) and the following:

The Map and Aerial Photographs Collection at Fresno State Library offers extensive geographic resources with an emphasis on California and the Central Valley, including a notable collection of aerial photographs of Fresno County dating back to 1937. The collection also features maps, atlases, and gazetteers, with many maps published by U.S. and California state agencies. While maps and aerial photos are stored in a closed area, they can be accessed by request, and many aerial images are available digitally through the Map and Aerial Locator Tool (MALT). Located on the first floor, North Wing, the service desk operates by appointment, and the collection is open to both the campus and the community.
