The following databases are good starting points for finding articles:
- America: History and LifeAmerica: History and Life contains scholarly material covering U.S. and Canadian history and culture from prehistoric times to the present.
- JSTORJSTOR contains scholarly material that spans many disciplines, primarily in the humanities and social sciences.
- Academic Search CompleteContains indexing for more than 8,100 journals, with full text for nearly 4,500 of those titles.
- GenderWatchGenderWatch provides researchers with more than 100,000 articles on wide-ranging topics like sexuality, religion, societal roles, feminism, masculinity, eating disorders, day care, and the workplace.
- Google Scholar (through Proxy)Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature across many disciplines and sources: peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles, from academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations.
