Graphic Novels and Comics

Tips on Searching

Finding graphic novels in the Library's Catalog (OneSearch) is not as straightforward as one would hope. Before moving forward, please visit the OneSearch guide if you need to become more familiar with OneSearch.

Even though graphic novels and comic books are a unique format, they are cataloged using Subject Headings and Genre Terms. An advance search on OneSearch is required to find graphic novels in the collection.

When conducting a search be sure to include Subject Heading comic books, strips, etc. and/or graphic novels to find books in the format.

This will help narrow down your search, but be aware that subjects comic books, strips, etc. and graphic novels are also included in books about comic books and graphic novels.
