Welcome to the Diversity in Our Collections library guide!

What
This guide highlights some of the materials within the Fresno State library collections that support DEIAJ, (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Justice) learning and center marginalized voices and stories. Explore the topics on the left to discover print and ebooks, articles, electronic and streaming media, and more.

Why
As library workers, we have a responsibility to be inclusive in our collection development and ensure that our collections, programs and services reflect the populations served. Demonstrating that commitment, this guide is a part of the Division of Equity and Engagement’s (DEE) Equity Library project. It is a living document, and we welcome your feedback and suggestions as we learn and grow together.

How
Each month DEE selects a topic to focus on, many chosen in commemoration of national holidays or other events. Our library working group selects materials from our collection to add to our DOC guide and digital displays. We also reach out to our campus community including student clubs, academic departments, programs, and services for their recommendations in selecting resources to highlight. In the process we identify gaps in our collection and purchase new materials suggested when possible. Everyone in the Fresno State community is welcome to make purchase suggestions at any time!
