Feminism Inshallah: A History Of Arab Feminism
by
Feriel Ben Mahmoud
The struggle for Muslim women’s emancipation is often portrayed stereotypically as a showdown between Western and Islamic values, but Arab feminism has existed for more than a century. This groundbreaking documentary recounts Arab feminism’s largely unknown story, from its taboo-shattering birth in Egypt by feminist pioneers up through viral Internet campaigns by today’s tech-savvy young activists during the Arab Spring.
Miss Representation
by
Jennifer Siebel Newsom
This film exposes how mainstream media contributes to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media's limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.
Women's March
by
Mischa Hedges
Shot on location in five U.S. cities, WOMEN'S MARCH is a story about democracy, human rights, and what it means to stand up for your values in today's America. On January 21, 2017, hundreds of thousands of women marched on Washington, D.C. That same day, hundreds of sister marches took place nationally and globally to become the largest one-day protest in American history. Filmed on location in Boston, San Francisco, Oakland, Santa Rosa, and Washington, D.C., the film explores several women's motivations to march. For some, it was their first time. For others, it was a continuation of a decades-long fight for human rights, dignity, and justice.

Sex(Ed): How Did You Learn About Sex?
by
Brenda Goodman
Sex(ed): The Movie offers a revealing, hilarious, and occasionally awkward look at how Americans have learned about sex from the early 1900s to the present....The messages imparted in sex ed lessons have a profound impact on how children later appreciate a woman's right to her body and her sexual activity, value consent and seek it out, understand the rights of oft-marginalized LGBTQ teens and adults, and connect with others as human, sexual beings.
Golden Gate Girls: Esther Eng: A Pioneering Asian-American Filmmaker
by
S. Louisa Wei
This is the story of filmmaker Esther Eng, the first woman to direct Chinese-language film in the US, and the most prominent woman director in Hong Kong in the 1930s. A San Francisco native and open lesbian, her contribution to film history is sadly overlooked and her 11 feature films mostly lost. After the retirement of director Dorothy Arzner in 1943 and before Ida Lupino began directing in 1949, Eng was the only woman directing feature length films in the US.
The F Word
by
Marcia Jarmel , Erin Gallagher
Designed to open up attitudes, THE F-WORD proves that feminism is still something worth talking about, hotly debated, widely misconstrued, and undeniably a fact of life! Created to inspire dialogue and debate, this irreverent, visually engaging documentary gets to the heart of feminism by dismantling the word and its many meanings. THE F-WORD is an ideal discussion starter on issues related to gender, sex roles and stereotypes, and the history of the feminist movement.
